If you’re getting a brand-new denture, you’ll need to keep in mind that it won’t necessarily fit perfectly right away. This is a normal part of the process, but there are things you can do to help. Using denture adhesive is a great solution. If you’ve never used denture adhesive before, keep these tips in mind. Not only will they ensure your denture fits as comfortably as possible, but you’ll save a lot on wasted adhesive.
Denture adhesive is worth buying if you want to:
Keep in mind that denture adhesives are not for those who have poor oral hygiene, an allergy to materials used in these products, or are trying to make a very old denture fit better when it really should be repaired or replaced.
With pastes, powders, strips and more available at your disposal, it can be tough to know which one can best suit your needs. It all depends on how much you value things like convenience, stability, and easier cleanup! Your ideal adhesive will ensure the denture remains in place and provide an optimal seal between your gums and your prosthetic so you can eat and speak with ease. Don’t be afraid to try out a few different varieties to find your preferred adhesive.
Every denture adhesive is going to have different instructions to follow, but you’ll want to keep these points in mind:
Be sure to remove the adhesive correctly as well. This can be done easier by rinsing your mouth with warm salt water for 30 seconds, then taking out your bottom denture followed by your top denture. Use a back and forth motion to gently pull it up and out. Do this over a sink and be sure to place a wet washcloth inside it before removing the denture just in case it is dropped.
There’s no shame in speaking with a dentist directly if you need help either applying your denture or finding the right product based on your needs!
