Losing a tooth is a frustrating experience. In addition to affecting how your smile looks, a missing tooth can also impact your ability to chew your food effectively. Beyond these practical considerations, missing teeth can cause long-term dental problems, including bone loss in your jaw. If you’re living with tooth loss, Dr. Adelina Duka and Dr. Arvi Duka at Framingham Family Dental Care in Framingham, Massachusetts, are here to help with innovative dental implants.
A dental implant is designed to completely replace a missing tooth, from the root to the crown. Implants are made with three parts:
Your first visit will be about creating a treatment plan designed specifically for you. At this consultation, our dentists will assess your oral health and ensure you have enough bone in your jaw to support an implant. You can ask any questions you may have, and they will recommend any preliminary treatments you need.
This surgical procedure is done in-house, so you don’t have to go to another office. Under local anesthesia, the dentist will make a small incision in your gum. The titanium post is placed carefully into the jawbone where your tooth root used to be. Because of the team’s advanced training, you can expect this to be a straightforward process.
Your dental implant will take between three and six months to heal. During this time, the titanium post fuses with the jaw through osseointegration. Once the implant has healed, you’ll return to Framingham Family Dental Care to have your abutment placed on top of the post.
The last step is when the dentist puts your crown, bridge, or denture onto your abutment. Your restoration is designed to match the look of your natural teeth perfectly. When you’re done, you’ll have a flawless smile.
You may be a good candidate for dental implants if you’re missing just one tooth or an entire row of teeth. Any of these scenarios might make implants right for you:
At Framingham Family Dental Care, you can expect a full-service dental implant experience, with everything taken care of under one roof by our team. Call (508) 665-2016 to schedule your consultation, and the team will get you started.
